What is a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS)?
A Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) is a real estate professional and respected industry expert who values the education, credentials, and opportunity that certification by the Council of Real Estate Specialists provides. The CRS designation, internationally recognized as the industry gold standard, has stringent requirements, including education and market experience. CRS agents have a proven record of success. Compared to the average real estate agent, CRS agents have been in the business nearly 3 times longer, have three times the number of annual transactions, and generate three times the amount of gross sales.
Certified Residential Specialists comprise an international network of more than 33,000 top real estate professionals who must maintain membership in the National Association of REALTORS® and abide by its Code of Ethics. Only an estimated 4 percent of all real estate professionals have attained the CRS Designation.
The Council offers a wide range of classroom and eLearning courses as well as education events and webinars from which to earn CRS Education credits. To obtain a CRS designation, candidates must complete extensive coursework and have experience many successfully completed transactions. An example of the more than 60 classroom courses include Building and Exceptional Customer Service Program, Negotiation Strategies, Advanced Marketing Practices, and Listing and Selling Practices. In addition, a successful candidate must have experienced many successfully completed transactions. In short, a Certified Residential Specialist has the training and experience to guide buyers and sellers successfully in what is likely their most important personal and business transaction.
